The NBA has reached new multi-year deals with publishers 2K and Electronic Arts to continue developing video games based on the pro basketball league.
The deal will allows both 2K and EA to continue using NBA teams and players in both simulations and arcade titles.
According to a statement from the NBA, Take-Two Interactive -- 2K's parent company -- will also have the chance to explore new opportunities, "including online on social media platforms." Take-Two will also become an official marketing partner of the NBA with the new deal.
The NBA 2K series has become one of Take-Two's signature franchises. Last year's release of NBA 2K11, featuring Michael Jordan on the cover, sold 5 million copies worldwide, says the publisher. It also happens to be one of the sports genre's best titles, as our review indicates.red bottom heels
Meanwhile, EA will reboot its NBA simulation in the fall of 2012 following a two-year hiatus. The publisher attempted to revamp its long-running NBA Live series last year with NBA Elite. However, the game's release was abruptly postponed and later canceled. Madden studio EA Tiburon will handle the development duties on the next NBA title. EA also works on the resurrected arcade title NBA Jam.
